Accommodation - more informations

December 9th, 2007 by Pawel in Edmonton, General, The Event Locations

There are also a couple of hostels in both the downtown and Whyte Ave areas. I personally prefer Hi Hostel (along Whyte Ave, near the university, and about a 10 minute bus ride from the main venues) http://www.hihostels.com/dba/hostel011010.en.htm But there is also a new hostel about 6 blocks from the Westin called Go! Backpackers Hostel (http://www.gohostels.ca/)

Accommodations

October 6th, 2007 by Pawel in General, The Event Locations

The most convenient place to stay will be the Westin Edmonton which is where the registration and hospitality suite is and just across the street from the Winspear Concert Hall where the main events will be. The most exciting place to stay will be the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald where many of the artists will be staying. I will get back to you later about the details of these two options and our meeting specific prices.

There are two other lower cost options you may want to act on now:

Days Inn Downtown - $99/109 single/double with an open room block (no contract, first come first serve, subject to availability) The hotel has 67 rooms, we can potentially have them all, or none if we procrastinate or somewhere in between.
Days Inn - Edmonton,10041-106 Street, Jasper Avenue & 106th Street, Edmonton, AB, T5J 1G3 CA

Hospitality Suite

October 2nd, 2007 by Kim in General

The 24/7 hospitality suite at the Westin Hotel will be the responsibility of Lila Klassen, but we will need many people to help her with this important job, probably in 6 or 8 hour shifts. Thus far Darlene Nordstrom, Pat Murphy, Karen and Richard Slevinsky, and Jerome and Merle Martin have all agreed to pitch in. If you would like to help with this as a volunteer please contact me with a short description of why you think you would be good at this task or why you want to do it. It is a good thing for couples to do and people with teaching or nursing experience.
