We have some information about places to stay for people attending the event next August.

The Lodging Center bedThe first place, of course, that I will mention is The Lowell Center which is a conference center that is operated by the University of Wisconsin. Please understand that it is not a dormitory and each guest room has its own bathroom “en suite.” Because it is operated by the University, there is no tax charged and a very nice breakfast is included each morning. The rates I believe are quite reasonable. It is $89 per night for one person with a charge of $12 for any extra people in the room. This is the standard room which includes rooms that have one queen size bed or two (European-smaller) beds. We also have deluxe rooms which are very new and many of which have great views of Lake Mendota. The deluxe rooms are $105 per night with a charge of $12 for each extra person. The deluxe rooms have a mixture of King, Queen and 2 Queen beds.

Here is a page with some information and pictures about the rooms: http://conferencing.uwex.edu/lodging.cfm There is even a Youtube video tour of the Lowell Center by clicking one of the links on the page.

We have blocked 106 rooms for the event and made a link to our online booking system. We’ve blocked the rooms beginning on Wednesday, August 1st through Monday, August 6th. You can adjust the arrival and departure dates to fit your schedule. You can book through this link:

There is a very liberal cancellation policy that would allow you to cancel by 6 PM on the day of your arrival.

There is also a HI - Madison hostel not too far from the campus, here is a link to a place that could book your bed:

Union South Union South bedis a brand new facility that has guest rooms. At least one of the concerts will be at Union South. Here is a link to their webpage:

The Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club is probably the nicest hotel in and is only several blocks away. Prior to my time here at The Lowell Center, I was the Director of the rooms division and can speak to the high quality of the rooms and staff. It is, of course, much more expensive than Lowell. Here is a link to their website:bed

There is another hotel directly across the street from The Lowell Center called The Campus Inn. It is also a very nice hotel:

Here is a link to access the online reservation system for The Lowell Center.
Joe’s made the block of rooms beginning on August 1, 2012 and including Monday, August 6th for anyone staying a little later. People can adjust the arrival and departure dates to suit their schedules.

106 rooms blocked for our Event! All of the guest rooms have bathrooms that are “en suite.” The Lowell Center, because it is operated by the University of Wisconsin does not charge tax and the lodging price includes an expanded continental breakfast with breakfast meats and a make your own waffle station.

Additional Happenings
We are planning a pre-event happening in Chicago around July 30-31, that will include an architectural boat tour and an evening in a Chicago Blues club. Chicago is in close proximity to and is a convenient entry point for those traveling from outside North America. We will also offer an excursion to Taliesen in Spring Green, WI-home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright on either August 6 or 7 after the event. We would highly recommend that you consider these additions to the main event.

Event Program
While Leonard will not be in for the Event (he will be here in spirit), the committee is planning a program that will include some great performers and other entertaining segments. We are still working with Anjani and hope to include a concert of hers. We hope to make arrangements with Conspiracy of Beards, the San Francisco a cappela group, Stefan Mork who performed so well in Krakow, and Sylvie Simmons with her great Ukulele versions of Leonard’s songs along with other performers.

Accommodation
Reasonable priced guest rooms will be available for the early registrants at The Lowell Center in the heart of the University of Wisconsin- campus (we will provide a link for online reservations)and we will provide a list of other accommodations close by.

Don’t miss this Very Special Event!
Because of venue sizes, we will be limited to 250 participants, so please register early!

The campus setting will be ideal for renewing old acquaintances and making new friends. has a beautiful, natural setting on an isthmus between two lakes with a picturesque Capitol, the wonderful Memorial Union Terrace, abundant restaurants, vibrant State Street with great shops and clubs, many terrific museums and galleries and the world class University of Wisconsin.

We know that this will be a very memorable event that you won’t want to miss!
